If you use diatomaceous earth (fossilized diatoms, a type of microalgea) as an annual or bi-annual internal parasite cleanse, this is a fun way to feed. For this recipe the dough is divided into portions so that the diatomaceous earth content is known. 1 biscuit contains 1 tsp DE, which is a generally recommended quantity per 20 lbs. If you want to increase the amount of diatomaceous earth, just add a bit more water to the recipe. General recommended duration for cleanse is 30 days.*

INGREDIENTS
1 cup oat flour
14 tsp food grade diatomaceous earth*
1 TBSP finely ground shelled pumpkin seeds, or pure pumpkin butter
1 egg
1 cup raspberries – frozen & thawed or fresh (or other berries)
3 TBSP water
* Must be ‘food grade’ DE (suitable for human and animal consumption). Please consult your vet or own resources for further guidance on quantity and duration of feeding. Don’t feed to pregnant or nursing dogs.
EQUIPMENT
bite-size silicone mold
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 310°F
- Mash the raspberries with a fork, beat in the egg and water, then add flour and ground pumpkin seeds (if using pumpkin butter add it to the wet mixture), stirring until blended. The dough will be stiff, and if necessary add a bit more water to get a consistency that’s easy to press in the mold.
- Divide the dough evenly into 14 silicone mold sections and press down firmly including into the edges. Dip your fingers in some water while pressing dough to prevent sticking.
Bake for 14-16 minutes (start checking at 12 mins) until the biscuits are pulling away slightly from the sides, and the tops are firm to the touch.
Makes 14. Will keep at room temperature for a couple of days, a couple of weeks in the fridge, or can be frozen.
