Cú is the Irish word for ‘hound’, and we took our name inspiration from centuries-old folklore about the connection between humans and dogs. The origin story of one of the most legendary Irish mythological heroes involves a young man pledging to take the place of a mighty Wolfhound, Cú Chulainn (‘Hound of Culann’), that had perished while bravely protecting his human, Culaan. The young man then became infused with the Wolfhound’s power and began a cycle of heroic adventures. Dogs appear in many myths as complex figures of protection, companionship and healing, and our goal is to create dog treats that help to protect and heal our modern mighty hounds!
